State President

Hello and Welcome!

Hello and welcome to a new school year! As the school year starts, so does another exciting SkillsUSA year. The Virginia State Officers have been working hard to prepare to serve you and to make this year one of the best ever! We have gone through extensive training seminars and conferences to better serve you. The purpose of the officer blogs is to let you, the members, know about what the officers are doing and how we are representing you. Since we are your officers for this year I think it would be best if we told you a little about us. The other officers will post there “About Me”, blogs soon, but for now here is a little introduction to me.

My name is Brian Luckett and I currently serve as your State President. Some of my past leadership experiences have been Class President for 5 years, Honor Society Officer, basketball captain, little league basketball coach and last year I was the National Region II Vice-President for SkillsUSA. Out of all of my past experiences my most meaningful and most helpful has been my time in SkillsUSA. Being a national officer and representing the Commonwealth of Virginia was a great honor and something I am most proud of. I had the opportunity to run for re-election since I was a junior, but I was defeated. Looking at the opportunities I still had though, I was able to come back and be a state officer and continue to be involved. The State Officer team chose me to be your State President, a title I believe to be my most significant yet. My time in SkillsUSA has been an unbelievable journey and something I will always remember.

Outside of SkillsUSA I like to play basketball and be with friends and family. I am a Television Production student at Franklin County High School. I plan to go to George Mason University but I am undecided in my major.

I am looking forward to a productive and fun year as your State President. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me. If you have anything you would like for me to blog about let me know and I would be more than happy to. As the other officers and I travel around the state, we will tell you about our experiences and what is going on around our Commonwealth.  I hope you have a great start to the year!
